If you have concerns about your water quality, please call our office and talk to us about it. We cannot help fix issues if we don't know about them. When you call, we can let you know if there is an issue due to something on our side, or if not, send an operator to investigate at your location.

Red/Brown/Orange/Yellow - This is iron in the water. Our plant filters out iron, but sometimes it can already be in the lines and be stirred up with flushing, main breaks, member leaks, etc.

Green - This will be due organics that entered your line from a cross-connection or contamination on your side. Picosa disinfects our water using chlorine and anthracite filtration which removed organics.

Cloudy/Milky - This is air in the lines caused by the flushing process which moves more water than normal. The activity causes air bubbles that will clear up as the water sits. It is safe to drink, just let the air dissolve.

Only chemicals that are approved by the National Safety Foundation for treatment of drinking water.

Picosa treats organics and other minerals found naturally in the Carrizo-Wilcox aquifer with chlorine. Water is then run through anthracite filters to remove any sediment, including iron.

Samples are taken daily at the plant, elevated storage tank and distribution system to make sure treatment is correct.

All public water systems are required to maintain a minimum chlorine level of 0.2 mg/L  by Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). Our disinfectant levels are tested daily to ensure safety at the plant, elevated storage tank and points in our distribution system.

If you are experiencing water quality issues please call our office right away so that we can help determine the cause and how to fix it.

Most likely your water heater needs to be flushed. CAUTION: Most manufacturers recommend hiring a professional to flush your water heater. If you plan on doing this yourself, read the owner's manual to keep from being hurt and or damaging the water heater.
