Meter Reading

Picosa reads meters around the 1st of each month.

Our meters utilize "radio read" technology. Each meter is equiped with a register that holds a microchip. This connects to the reading software utilized by our operators. If the reading software does not connect to a meter, the operator will manually read it and address any issues with the equipment.

Once reads are completed, they are uploaded to the billing software for review and investigation of unusual usage. Once this has been completed, the monthly bill is generated. Bills are posted to accounts after the 20th of each month.

To track your usage:

If you would like to track your usage to see how much water you are using during a specific time period, follow the steps below:

Step 1 - Locate your meter. Meters are placed on the front property line and usually near the edge of the property or inline with the house. It will be in a black plastic box with a blue lid. There should be a metal stake with a sign that says "Water Meter". Remove the lid by placing your finger in the hole and pulling up. Please note, there is an antenna attached from the meter to the lid. Do not pull this apart.

Step 2 - Look at the face of the meter. It is a digital display and will show numbers. The numbers can flash off/on depending on the usage. If the display is blank, wake the display by allowing sunlight to hit it or shining a light on it. Record the Number(it will say something like 00054321 GALLONS).

Step 3 - Return at a later time (hour, day, week) and record the New Number. Subtract the two to find how many gallons you used. We do not use the numbers after the decimal.

Example:     Day 1: 54321 Gallons        Day 7: 55600 Gallons        Weekly Usage: 55600 - 54321 = 1279 Gallons
